Process Engineer Intern (Front/Back-End Web Development)

SLĀ Foundation is seeking someone to work directly with our Founder, Shane Adams, to streamline our processes as we expand our SLĀ Speaker Series to additional cities next semester. We need to design a scalable process and then incorporate the necessary technologies and potential custom development to implement it.

The specific processes we are looking to scale include:

  • outreach to potential speakers

  • outreach to teachers

  • outreach to employers and professional organizations

  • dissemination of training materials to speakers, teachers and employers including videos and documents

  • scheduling of classes

  • scheduling of speakers

  • podcast production

Additionally, we are launching the SLĀ Podcast Series so there is the opportunity to work on production and post-production. Currently, we are using Yeti Blue mics and GarageBand to record and Simplecast to host/distribute our podcast.

Our current workflow for a Guest Speaker is as outlined below. We would like to redesign this through the use of additional technologies, backend/frontend development or even our own phone app to streamline and thus make this process more scalable. This is just one workflow. Additional workflows include the Teacher workflow and the SLĀ Foundation workflow to ensure our CRM (Zoho (who happens to be moving their headquarters from SF to Austin)) is updated with the Guest Speakers contact info and the Google Sheet with the available openings is updated.

  • Prospect receives an email, tweet or LinkedIn message from SLĀ Foundation indicating xxx has referred them as a Guest Speaker. A link is provided to visit https://slafoundation.com and encourages them to visit the Join --> SLĀ Speaker Series page to learn more.

  • Prospect takes action on link and visits the SLĀ Speaker Series page. Clicks Schedule a Call button to schedule a 15 minute call with Shane Adams, Founder of SLĀ Foundation (this is powered via an Acuity Scheduling plug-in on our SquareSpace site).

  • On this call, Shane educates prospect on the foundation and what the speaking engagement entails. Prospect becomes excited and decides to become a Guest Speaker.

  • Prospect navigates to the bottom of the SLĀ Speaker Series page, views the embedded Google Sheet with the available openings and emails hello@slafoundation.com their desired time slot.

  • Prospect receives a reply confirming their time along with the necessary info and documents to prepare for their speaking engagement. Prospect also receives a mtg invite with the teacher copied and the logistical info.

You will have the opportunity to network with a number of professionals and employers within the Austin community, and work alongside Shane who is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor himself.

This role can extend into a full-time job or part-time job at the end of the summer.
